LTC Rulez!
A group of 35 people, including House Captains, PSLs and three teachers attended the camp to Loola, Indonesia for a 3day2night Leadership Training Camp.
It was held on 17th March to 20th March during the one week holiday to train the students in leadership quality, and teamwork while assisting one another. The camp was not like any other camp but a fantastic one with wonderful activities such as kayaking for 5hours and high elements which trains them to overcome their fear of height.
Although the training was a tough one, however the Student Leaders overcome the obstacles, did not complain and had enjoyed the camp tremendously.
One of the high elements required them to climb from one coconut tree balancing on a stick and walking to the other coconut tree. The thought of doing that had already made some of their legs feel like jelly! For kayaking, they kayaked for 5 tiring hours to reach the other island. The experience and the joy of accomplishing something after a long run was what Shirnise remembered the most
‘It’s not like the usual camp we attended. It requires more teamwork and communication. It’s a tough training but i enjoyed it very much with the other SLs.’ Shirnise added.
Through this, the students also learn the skills of dependent and learn how to treasure what they have now. It was a memorable experience for them.
But fear not, there will still be another chance for those people who love challenges. Anticipate!

A concert ‘café’
On 16th April 2010, Holy innocents’ High School organized a concert “café at HI” the concert was held at Holy innocents’ High School’s school hall and was a success.
The concert includes my personal favorite the choir, the spectacular dance, the beautiful band and the soothing Chinese Orchestra.
The concert was supported by our school’s own student, the teachers and the performer’s parents. For the concert, our students worked extremely hard, especially the ones behind the scenes and the performers who rehearsed faithfully.
One person who attended the concert , Christian Reynoso said “it was a great performance from our students , kudos to them!” Ernest, another audience added “ In the future I will certainly continue attending this sort of concerts , my 10 dollars did not go to waste’’ One choir performer, Xing Er said that the feeling is totally great and to get the appreciation of the crowd after hours of though rehearsal is simply awesome
The concert was started by our principal Ms Soh Lai Leng giving a speech and asking us to sit back and enjoy the performance. The Chinese orchestra started off the night by putting in a soothing music for us to enjoy before the night unfolded.
Followed up next was the choir, what a stunning performance they put in as people gave them a standing ovation.
Thirdly came the dance, they mesmerized us with some amazing moves before the crowd gave them a thunderous round of applause.
Last but not least was the band , it was pure class their music as most of us fell in love with the melody made by them and some even clapped their hands in rhythm with the music.
A successful concert, An unique name added by special occasion. Missing it is totally a mistake.

What the Camp?!
Going to the hall for a normal LCE lesson the students were expecting some boring talk or presentation but when they saw the screen everyone went,” Not again!” The initial reaction for this activity was always the same which happened every year in HIHS.
It was the briefing for the Sec2 level camp. This as when they found out it was only two weeks from then.
The days went by an then the dreaded day arrived when they would have to face the ruthless mosquitoes, the hard sleeping floor and the hot sun all in 3 days 2 nights.
The site was at some place called Jalan Bhatera. There were activities like high elements, sea activites and station games.
The camp was planned perfectly and was memorable for the students like Christian Highfield who exclaimed,” It was awesome, better than the previous one!” Adding on Christian Highfield stated that like anything else nothing can be perfect and the camp had some flaws like shower time limit.
Yi Fan also highlighted,” It was better than I expected but still some things were pretty irritating like the time given to shower or the time to wake up.”
The camp had some obvious flaws pointed out by the students but the students generally looked to be having a good time as they take many memorable moments from this camp which was mainly meant to bond the classes together in greater unity and all student agree that the camp fulfilled it with a blast. Most of the students said they had an enjoyable time learning things and overcoming obstacles as a class and are looking forward to more of these kinds of things in the future.

AESTHETIC FRENZY!
What does Aesthetic really mean? Aesthetic is visual art. Aesthetic month in HIHS is really a big event for the school in April. There are really big events coming up the few weeks since there is the HI concert – café at HI, entrée of the HI and interesting and fun signs put up in the toilet and pillars around the school.
Let’s close up on the view of Aesthetic month. The Aesthetic month refers to enabling the students to show case their arts and talents and encourage more forms of classroom activities.
Students and teachers are definitely tired out by all the work needed to do to decorate the whole school. They came back during the weekends just to decorate the spiral staircase of the school. New things are added to things the students and teachers see every day. Potted plants are wrapped up and the spiral staircase was wrapped up too! The purpose of this project was to make the staffs realize that we people take things for granted we see every day and we must learn to appreciate it.
‘I have learnt that we shouldn’t pack so much activities in a month because it will cause the important message would have been lost by so many activities. Students would soon find it a chore to deal with so much activities,’ said Miss Tan, an art teacher. ‘Nevertheless, I am looking forward to seeing students happily and excitedly doing the activities planned for them,’ continued Miss Tan.
